Just a short way from central London lay the Chislehurst Caves - over 20 miles of dark mysterious passageways hewn by hand from the chalk, deep beneath Chislehurst. Experienced guides take you on a 45 minute lamp lit-tour and tell stories of Druids, Romans & Saxons. You’ll see the tunnels made famous as a shelter during the Second World War, the Caves Church, Druid Altar, Haunted Pool and much more! Open Wednesday to Sunday, the tours leave hourly from 10am till 4pm. During local school holidays (except Xmas) the Caves are open every day.

Chislehurst caves is a small family run tourist attraction. One of the few places left where you actually have your own guide to escort you around, no boring reading posters on the wall here! Things are explained to you, and you can ask questions if you don’t understand something. No two tours are exactly the same, as each of the guides has their own unique style. Chislehurst Caves should hold the imagination of even the most easily bored child and if nothing else, there are twenty miles of tunnels to wear them out! There is also a Gift Shop where you can buy anything from a pencil to a Dragon, a Licensed Café serving Home cooked meals, Breakfasts, Lunches or just Tea and Cakes. There is also a large free Car Park.
